Austrian Academy of Sciences
Dr. Ignaz Seipel-Platz 2
1010 Vienna
The conference will take place at the main building of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Located in the heart of Vienna, the venue building is an architectural landmark with a rich history. It was designed by Jean Nicolas de Ville-Issey and built in 1753/55 for the University of Vienna. In 1857, it was transferred to the “Imperial Academy of Sciences”, which Emperor Ferdinand I had founded a decade earlier. Today it forms the center of a hub of the “Academy Campus”, a center of knowledge and research at the heart of Vienna that includes the iconic Art Nouveau building of the former Österreichische Postsparkasse.
Public transport
The venue is easily accessible via metro, tram or bus: the nearby stations Stubentor (metro line U3) and Schwedenplatz (metro lines U1 and U4) are both within a short walking distance. Alternatively, the tram lines 1 and 2, along with bus line 1A, also stop within easy walking distance of the venue.
Tickets: Vienna’s public transport system offers a range of ticket options, including 24-, 48-, and 72-hour passes, all available through the Wiener Linien app. For longer stays, a weekly pass is often the most practical choice, costing €25.20 and allowing unlimited travel within the city.
Airport: Vienna is served by Vienna International Airport (VIE). From the airport, the S7 suburban train provides a direct connection to Wien Mitte / Landstraße in roughly 20 minutes. From there, you can transfer to the U3 or U4 underground lines to reach the city center (as well as the conference location). Tickets can be purchased via the ÖBB app. If you already hold a public transport pass, you can select the reduced fare option (“Ticket Stadtverkehr Wien (Kernzone) exkl. Jahreskarte”), which lowers the price for the airport transfer.
An alternative (and more costly) option to directly reach the city center from the Vienna airport is the CAT.
